I heart Trent Reznor. For me his music is therapeutic. My life is great and sucks all at the same time. My life is an enigma rapped up in a puzzle. The good is that I have the job that I've been waiting and working towards for 20 years now. But the rest of my life pretty much sucks. I have a husband who is in Germany because he likes it there. I'm not a puppy and therefore I'm not following him to a country were I feel my isolation like a thorn in my side.
This is about the album Year Zero. I'm on the 4th cut of the song. It is currently available on the NIN website. I'm listening to the album on headphones because NIN's music is very layered. I want to hear everything there is to hear.
After listening to Half Past Forever's "Take a chance on something beautiful" I figure this is the yang to that ying. Chris Sligh is a happy Christian while Trent Reznor as definite issues with God and Religion. Odd thing is there are more references to God in NIN's album. So musically is Chris and Trent two sides of the same coin?
I can bet almost anything that both Chris and Trent fans would flame me for those comments.
Overall I really like this album. The song "The Greater Good" actually has harp in it as well as something that sounds like an out of tune music box. I love the contrast between the music and the drum beats. I consider Trent Reznor to be the Mozart of our time. It is the way he paints a song with so many different layers of sounds.
I really liked the song "Another Version of the Truth". I love it when Trent play piano. What I really like about his album is the mix of acoustic and electronic instruments. Yes, NIN is on the short list of albums I just buy because it's NIN but I am buying this album because it is great to listen to. This album is what my soul was craving. Thank-you Trent.
